Money Saving Ideas

Car Travel... Gasoline prices for summer are rumored to be lower than last year.  Plan a vacation by car, RV or camper and take advantage of the lower prices.

Travel Scams... A current crackdown is aimed at travel agents who sell vacation packages, then skip off with your money.  Check out any agent with the American Society of Travel Agents, (703)-739-8739.  Protect yourself by examining all the fine print and pay by credit card.

Student ID card...  The International Student Identity Card for students over age 12 offers discounts to a multitude of at-tractions and services, home and abroad--transportation, hotels, resorts and much more. Obtain it for $19 from Student Services, Council Travel: 1-888-268-6245, http://www.ciee.org

Lowest airfares... Get them by shopping around.  Contact several travel agents and the airlines directly for the best possible prices to your travel destinations.  You’ll often be surprised, and pleased!

Best Savings... You can get the lowest airfares by flying during mid-May to mid-June, late August and between Thanksgiv-ing and Christmas.

ATM charges... Look out--automated teller machine charges are on their way up.  If you rely on ATMs while on vacation, be prepared to budget for the increased service charges.
