Digging for Dinosaurs...
in NW Colorado

Film your own family version of Jurassic Park, discovering dinosaur fossils and footprints.  Located in NW Colorado, in one of the richest open quarries in the world, Dinosaur Journey Museum, promotes research and education of dinosaur paleontology.  From budding paleontologists to the more experienced, “Family Dino Camp” offers families (children 6-11) activities that are entertaining yet always educational.  The kids can tour the dinosaur museum, view dinosaur tracks, make  fossil casts, sculpt dioramas and dig their own fossil replicas (theirs to keep).  Parents can interact with the kids throughout the day, sharing times of learning but also participating in adult activities: scientific lectures, learning lab methods and working in the quarry.  A second program, “Colorado Canyons” offers families (children 12 and older) lectures, lab techniques, research methods and opportunities to join the scientific research team in quarry excavations.  (Five days of lodging and most meals:  Dino Camp, $800 for adults, $575 for kids;  Colorado Canyon Camp, $850 per person).
