Island Capers
Caribbean Family Resorts

Island vacations are rejuvenating times for parents and wonderlands for kids. May you have the opportunity to soon vacation on an island escape with your loved ones.

Each year our family visits an all-inclusive resort. Beaches Resort in Negril, Jamaica ranks close to the top of our list of favorites.
Negril lies on Jamaica’s west coast and is blessed with a seven-mile stretch of white-sand beach. Beaches Resort is situated on 20 acres of lavishly landscaped grounds facing Caribbean waters.
The rooms with cool terra cotta floors are tastefully decorated with four-poster beds.
On one side of the resort, you can play chess with life-size chess pieces or you can try a game of Bocci. On the other side are the water sports where you can sign up to scuba, snorkel, sail or kayak.

“On one side of the resort, you can play chess with life-size chess pieces...”

When strolling about the property, make sure to peek through the swaying palm trees where you may see a marriage ceremony under way with beachcombers in the background.
The main pool is spectacular and offers a swim-up bar loaded with mysterious tropical drinks. Kids also have a private pool with a swim-up bar of colas and tropical juices.
There’s a kids’ camp and a reliable babysitting service. The sitters are professional and they play with your kids until they’re fast asleep. This service has worked out nicely for us and we’ve been able to enjoy the resort’s evening entertainment – the guest talent show is hilarious.
Beaches Resort is one place we visit as a family to kick up our feet and enjoy four days of Caribbean bliss.

(888) BEACHES

Jamaica is loaded with all-inclusive family resorts. Boscobel Beach Resort had many wonderful reviews – we were looking forward to our visit. The brochure showed a long, white-sand beach with ample lounging chairs, swinging palm trees, blue/green waters begging for your company – a perfect Caribbean image.
The beach is blocked off on each end by boulders – it’s cozy with a small swimming area outlined with rope.
Kids’ programs are well organized and I found the caretakers professional and genuinely interested in our one-year old daughter. The women even volunteer to entertain and feed your children at a separate table while you dine.

“The Jump-Up Club, for teenagers offers a juke box, computer games and
variety of water sports by day and
dance themes by night.”

There are several brightly decorated clubhouses, each designated for different age groups. The Jump- Up Club, for teenagers and fully supervised offers a juke box, computer games, and a variety of water sports during the day
and dance themes at night.
We ate most of our meals in the main dining room, a wide-open, spacious eating area. We were offered a selection of tasty Caribbean dishes along with creative continental foods. For late snackers, the buffet reopens late in the evening with tasty goodies.

The Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, Bahamas is another splendid vacation resort for families. We enjoyed its Caribbean village theme with underground grottos filled with artifacts from the legendary sunken continent.
Five swimming pools offer seven different waterslides, cascading waterfalls, a man-made river for tubing, and a private lagoon that’s perfect for snorkeling. A 100-foot long underwater glass tunnel allows you to see fish swimming while strolling to the beach. Throughout the 14-acre property lagoons and pools exhibit 100 different species of fish.

and a lagoon full of fish – perfect for snorkeling!”

From our guest room window we watched giant, black stingrays gliding through basins arranged along the walkways below.
The Atlantis Resort Village is comprised of three interconnecting towers with over 2000 rooms, 12 restaurants, a casino and a showroom. The lobby is decorated with marble floors, tall statues and tropical flowers arrayed in enormous vases splashed with vibrant Caribbean colors.
Although The Atlantis does not offer an all-inclusive package, guests have the option of purchasing a dining plan.
For boat enthusiasts, The Atlantis offers a private marina.
