18-year-old looking for travel advice...

18-year-old looking for travel advice...

Aloha Deb,
Mom suggested that I contact you for this question. I love Hawaii, too! I've been there several times.
I’m graduating from high school next year and want to travel for a year and visit several countries before heading to college. I will need to work along the way to support some of my travel. Do you have any suggestions how I might get started?
Hope to see you in Hawaii!
Jason

Re: 18-year-old looking for travel advice...

Aloha Jason!
I hope to see you in Hawaii, too. Many young adults take off for a year of travel - to explore the world and learn about themselves before heading off to college and a career. Travel provides that special opportunity. You can choose to crew a yacht in the Mediterranean, teach English in Japan, and work as an overlander on camping trips across Africa; volunteer at an archaeological dig in England, build homes in Mexico, and research bees and orchids in Brazil; pursue business in Vienna, homestay in Italy while learning the art of cooking, and study Chinese traditional medicine from the masters.
As you can see, there are a multitude of possibilities.  Now to narrow the choices... take a look at Transitions Abroad (www.transitionsabroad.com). This website provides ideas and resources for work, travel, study, and living abroad.
    Enjoy your world travels!
Deb
